Job Title: Executive Director
Reports to: Board of Directors
Hours: 40 Hours/Week, Occasional Evenings and Weekends Required
Salary Range: Beginning at $81,60
Job Summary: The Executive Director (ED) champions organizational values and leads the Maple Valley Food Bank in fulfilling its goal to fight hunger and feed hope in the community. The ED is responsible for community and donor relationships, fundraising, marketing and communications, ensuring safe and efficient operations, staff leadership, financial and risk management, and working with the Board of Directors to set and accomplish strategic goals.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 4+ years of experience in social services or related equivalent
- Experience with Microsoft Office
- Ability to learn new technologies and programs with ease
Preferred Qualifications:
- Superior attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to complete complex tasks quickly with little supervision and react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to design and improve processes
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects/assignments at any given time
- High level of integrity and discretion
- Experience working in a lead or supervisory role
Requirements:
- Must have reliable personal transportation and provide proof of valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Must be 25 years of age to drive company vehicle and be insurable
- Must be able to pass a criminal history background check
- Must be able to sit/stand for periods of up to four hours
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Must have or be able to obtain Food Handlers Permit
Responsibilities:
LEADERSHIP
- Work with Board of Directors to set strategic vision and implement plans to achieve goals.
- Monitor key dashboard metrics to ensure mission alignment and success; complete reports.
- Manage and provide leadership to staff, including all HR functions (job descriptions, performance appraisals, annual goals, staff policies, compensation, etc.).
- Limit or reduce all unnecessary risk and liability to the organization, volunteers, and patrons.
- Develop and oversee budget; monitor income and expenses and maintain fiscal responsibility, including completion of the annual audit.
- Work with the Board of Directors to identify opportunities, threats, and obstacles both internal and external to the organization.
- Lead the appropriate staff to oversee the Holiday Gift Program, Backpack
- Program, food drives, fundraising events, community outreach events/drives, and volunteer appreciation events.
- Oversee completion of all staff activities.
DEVELOPMENT
- Develop, foster, and maintain collaborative relationships with local government, non-profits, schools, coalitions, and civic and religious groups.
- Identify and cultivate business sponsorships, donations, and in-kind support; aid in crafting a robust donor care program.
- Participate in the effort to cultivate/develop individual donors and coordinate giving campaigns.
- Identify, apply for, and manage funds from government organizations, grants, and foundations.
- Manage and/or coordinate with staff and/or the Board on Maple Valley Food Bank sponsored events.
- Coordinate participation in community sponsored events relevant to our mission (e.g., health fairs, farmers’ markets, etc.).
- Serve as the co-lead for annual fundraising events such as the Charity Golf Tournament, Turkey Trot, and Hunger Action Month.
MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS
- Manage general correspondence, both written and email.
- Maintain use of the client texting program.
- Respond to media requests.
- Oversee maintenance of website, Facebook, and other social media; manage content creation.
- Manage and/or coordinate with staff to host community open houses, walk-throughs, etc.
- Oversee maintenance of donor database; manage all communications not performed by the Executive Assistant.
- Oversee MVFB’s face to the public, including advertising, signage, information materials and other print collateral.
- Maintain and promote positive public relations with the community, clients, and volunteers.
Position Specifics:
- Reports to Board of Directors
- Salaried, full-time position
- Flexible hours to meet the needs of programs and volunteer groups
- Work with designated Board members to oversee building maintenance, security, etc.
- Attend Board meetings, retreats and continuing education as appropriate
- Uphold and embody the values and policies of the organization
- Be an advocate for the Maple Valley Food Bank and be able and willing to share our story with the community and guests
- Perform all other duties as directed
