A Letter to Black Diamond Clients

Dear Black Diamond Clients,

I am writing to inform you and your families about a change in the Maple Valley Food Bank Service Area Boundaries. Effective February 1st, 2025, the Maple Valley Food Bank will no longer consider the entire City of Black Diamond within our service area. As a result, residents of Black Diamond who reside outside of the Tahoma School District will no longer have access to extra programs such as Rent/Mortgage Assistance, Holiday Gifts, Holiday Food, and School Supplies.

This decision, recommended by staff and confirmed by the Maple Valley Food Bank Board of Directors on January 17th, 2025, was made with the utmost care and concern for those we serve.

Several factors influenced this decision, with one of the main reasons being the presence of other food banks that serve the City of Black Diamond. Plateau Outreach Ministries in Enumclaw and the Black Diamond Community Center will continue to serve residents of Black Diamond within the Enumclaw School District.

Here are the details of their services:

· Plateau Outreach Ministries Food Bank (1720 1/2 Wells Street, Enumclaw): Mondays (12:00 PM – 3:00 PM), Tuesdays (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM), and Wednesdays (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)

· Black Diamond Community Center Food Pantry (31605 Third Ave (SR169), Black Diamond): Mondays and Wednesdays (10:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Although residents of Black Diamond outside the Tahoma School District will no longer be part of our service area, we remain committed to helping anyone in need of food who walks through our doors. While we encourage you to access services at Plateau Outreach Ministries or the Black Diamond Community Center, no one will be turned away from food during our Market Hours: Tuesdays (10:30 AM – 6:00 PM) and Wednesdays (10:30 AM – 1:00 PM).

Thank you for your understanding, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you and your family.

Sincerely,

Jon Cantalini
